When I first started Mountains Wave Marketing, one of the questions I had to ask myself was, "If successful, how will this project give back?"

I knew that we wanted to work with companies whose mission was focused on making their corner of the world a better place, which led us to opportunities with companies in sustainability, health & wellness, and similar righteous causes. Gratefully we had opportunities to work with companies of all different shapes and sizes and varying product offerings, and not every organization that contracted Mountains Wave fell into that "make the world a better place" bucket.

As we reflected on 2020, I began to think through opportunities to give back, which led to 1% for the Planet, and in January 2021 Mountains Wave Marketing was approved to become a Business Member of this wonderful organization.

About

1% for the Planet was started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Files, two outdoor enthusiasts and businessmen that decided to give 1% of their sales back to the environment, regardless of it they had a profitable year or not.

It was a simple idea: many companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, so it makes sense that they would want to protect those resources. 1% for the Planet quickly became a global initiative, but their mission remains the same.

MTNS | WAVE Commitment

As a small (and growing) business, 1% for the Planet provides us with the network and structure to easily participate in giving back to the planet and supporting any one of several non-profits that are part of the 1% for the Planet Non-Profit Directory.

Not only are we able to participate through monetary donations, but also non-monetary donations of time and services, which extend to our FRIENDS Collective as well. We are very excited to get involved with 1% for the Planet in 2021, continuing to take action for the planet, and be part of the solution.
